1805-1881 British Samuel Palmer Galleries English painter, draughtsman and etcher. Palmer was a key figure of English Romantic painting who represented, at least in his early work, its pastoral, intuitive and nostalgic aspects at their most intense. He is widely described as a visionary and linked with his friend and mentor William Blake, though he stood at an almost opposite extreme in his commitment to landscape and his innocent approach to its imagery. Norwegian Impressionist Painter, 1847-1906 .Norwegian painter and engraver. Originally wanting to become a marine painter he studied at the art academy in Copenhagen (1870-73) as well as with the Danish marine specialist C. F. S?rensen (1818-79). He spent two winters at Karlsruhe (1873-4, 1874-5) as the pupil of Hans Gude and then went to Paris, where he spent much of the period 1875-9. His marines and coastal pictures, some of which were accepted at the Paris Salon, were only moderately successful, but he acquired a fair knowledge of contemporary French Realist art and felt that Norwegian artists should learn from it.
Blythe David Gilmour
American Painter, 1815-1865 He began his career as an itinerant portrait painter in the early 1840s and became one of the leading satirical artists in America by the beginning of the Civil War. Self-taught, from 1840 to 1850 he worked in East Liverpool, OH, and Uniontown, PA, and nearby towns and villages, painting rather stiff likenesses of the local gentry. He also carved a monumental polychrome wooden statue of Marie-Joseph, Marquis de Lafayette for the Uniontown courthouse and painted a landscape panorama of the Allegheny mountains, which he took on tour through Maryland, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Christoph Amberger
(c. 1505 --1562) was a painter of Nernberg in the 16th century, a disciple of Hans Holbein, his principal work being the history of Joseph in twelve pictures. Amberger travelled to Northern Italy and Venice between 1525 and 1527. He died in Augsburg.
